Exalt Wins 2009 4GWE Backhaul Distinction Award

4 Nov 2009

CAMPBELL, Calif., 2009 – Exalt Communications, the company that is reinventing microwave backhaul, today announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), a global integrated media company, in conjunction with Crossfire Media, has named its EX-6i-DS3-GigE microwave radio system as a recipient of the 2009 Wireless Backhaul Distinction Awards presented by its 4GWE Web site.

Exalt’s licensed EX-6i Series GigE microwave radio system is the first in the industry to aggregate capacity from licensed 6 GHz and carrier-class license-exempt 5 GHz radios over a single long haul link. By directly aggregating traffic from the primary 6 GHz radio and up to three Exalt EX-5r GigE systems over a single pair of antennas and waveguides, EX-6i Series GigE radios support up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) of Ethernet capacity, eliminate the need for expensive gigabit Ethernet router ports for data aggregation and reduce deployment time. In addition, the EX-6i Series GigE radios are the first in the industry to offer semi-protected “1.5+0” operation, providing built-in redundancy for  critical subsystems, thus minimizing the need for a fully redundant 1+1 configuration and slashing capital expenditures.

“Our unified software platform allows us to continually push the envelope with new technology advances such as capacity aggregation and 1.5+0 protection,” said Amir Zoufonoun, president and CEO of Exalt Communications. “We are proud to have been recognized as a microwave backhaul technology leader.”

The 2009 Wireless Backhaul Distinction Awards winners are published in the September 4GWE e-newsletter and on the 4GWE Web site.

“Exalt deserves this recognition for its achievements in advancing the state of 4G backhaul,” said Carl Ford, co-founder and community developer, Crossfire Media. “Our judges were impressed with the EX-6i’s outstanding capabilities, and we expect more innovation from Exalt in the future.”
