| SOLON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2002--ARC Wireless Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB:ARCS - News) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Winncom Technologies Corp., has signed a Distribution Agreement to become a North American distributor for Packeteer (Nasdaq:PKTR - News) bandwidth and network management products.
Winncom is a leader in supplying Wi-Fi product as well as wireless LAN/WAN
networking systems, data communications infrastructure products, and related
software to VARs and system integrators. Winncom also provides a full range of
value-added services, including system design, installation, reseller training
and certification, and technical support. Through its large network of
resellers, Winncom supports a wide range of applications and markets, including
wireless local and wide area networking, public area Internet access
"hotspots," healthcare, education, the military, industrial
automation, data acquisition, and telecommunications, among others.
"Many companies are now realizing that certain applications have
considerable impact on network performance and cost," stated Gregory E.
Raskin, President and CEO of Winncom Technologies. "As an example,
deployers of 'hotspots' must contend with similar problems, as well as with
security. A Packeteer-managed network provides improved performance at lower
cost. We think Packeteer is the ideal solution for enabling improved performance
and enhanced services on wireless networks. Packeteer will be an important part
of Winncom's solutions that incorporate security, wireless, VPN, VoIP, and other
bandwidth-critical technologies," Mr. Raskin added.
Network security and enhanced services are important considerations today.
The ability to manage each user's traffic is key to generating incremental
revenue through enhanced services, and Packeteer enables a network operator to
offer different levels of service and specific enhanced services like VoIP or
streaming video to specific users.
"Winncom's technical expertise, coupled with its focus on delivering
end-to-end wireless solutions, makes it a strong partner for Packeteer,"
stated Jim Baker, Packeteer's Vice President of American Sales. "Using
Packeteer solutions will add to the ability of Winncom and its resellers to
deliver quality of service and application performance, both of which are
contributors to broad adoption of wireless technology."
