TurboCell software is an FixedWireless
protocol developed by KarlNet, Inc. It uses the 802.11b radios, but is
not part of the 802.11b standard. It’s primary use is for WANs,
connecting networks located up to 25miles apart from one another.
TurboCell is proprietarysoftware designed
specifically for FixedWireless (building to building and point to
mulitpoint networks). TurboCell and 802.11 will not connect with one
another. You can have TurboCell and 802.11 on the same hardware
platform, butwould need to have 2 radios in the unit to use both at the
same time. TurboCell solves the “hidden node” problem, unlike 802.11b.
There are also other software functions available for TurboCell such
asbandwidth throttling, IP Routing, Firewall, NAT/DHCP. |
