The Terabeam Wireless AP Ant and the AP Ant-LR are 802.11b Access Points built into 18 dBi flat panel antennas. Both products are identical in features except that the AP Ant-LR has the world famous Terabeam Wireless bi-directional amplifier built in for maximum range! They are ideal for providing coverage over a focused area, such as 802.11b Hot Spots, hotels, airports, apartment buildings, etc. They are easy to install and the benefits of a high-gain directional antenna are achieved without the need for fragile RF adapter cables or bulky coax cables. The only connection to the AP Ant and the AP Ant-LR is a thin, flexible outdoor-rated Ethernet cable (sold separately)! Because the radio is in the antenna, there are no coax cable signal losses as you would have using an access point with an external antenna. |
Two versions of the AP Ant are available: the standard series AP Ant with an integral 18 dBi gain flat panel antenna, and the AP Ant-LR with the addition of an integrated bi-directional fixed amplifier to boost range and improve reception. The WLAN device located in the antenna gets its power from the DC Power Injector which puts DC power onto the Ethernet cable. Also, because the radio is in the antenna, there is no coax cable loss! Up to 300 feet of Ethernet cable between the DC injector and the antenna can be used with no signal loss. Just plug the outdoor Ethernet cable (ordered separately) into the Cat 5 DC Injector, and then into the PC or Router, and you're done! Since it is FCC certified for nonprofessional installation, it is legal for the customer to do self-installation.
