Proxim Lightning Protector 70251 provides superior lightning and surge protection for Tsunami MP.11 and Tsunami QuickBridge.11 products. The unit supports normal and reverse polarity Power over Ethernet (PoE), and includes two Ethernet data pairs in addition to the PoE DC power feed.
Note: This unit supports mid-span PoE using the extra wire pairs, not data path. |
Safety Precautions
Before installing, ensure all power to the equipment has been turned off. Proper grounding according to NEC 810-15, 810-20, and 810-21 and ANSI/NFPA 70-1993 is required.
Lighting Protection
Lightning protection is used to maximize the reliability of communications equipment by safely re-directing current from a lightning strike or power surge traveling along the CAT 5 Ethernet cabling to ground using the shortest path possible. Designing a proper ground system prior to installing any communications equipment is critical to minimize the possibility of equipment damage, void warranties, and cause serious injury.
